AppsApps
Word at a Glance

The KonText application is a basic query interface for working with corpora available within the CNC project. It allows evaluation of simple and complex queries, displaying their results as concordance lines, computing frequency distribution, calculating association measures for collocations and further work with language data. All functions are clearly described in the manual.

Word at a Glance (WaG) aims at creating a general overview of a word's usage. It combines several sources of information (different CNC corpora and apps) to create a plastic and multifaceted profile of a word from various perspectives.

The SyD tool is designed for versatile exploration of variants both from the synchronic (contemporary language) and diachronic perspective. Based on the CNC corpora, it summarizes how frequently each particular variant is used in present as well as in the past. Try it out! Simply enter two or more competing variants of a single linguistic phenomenon and check the results, e.g. téměř × skoro.

The Morfio tool is aimed at searching word formation relations between corpus units, e.g. lovit - úlovek. It enables finding all word pairs formed in the same way and evaluating morphological productivity of their formation.

The KWords application provides a fundamental basis for empirical interpretation of texts. It analyzes words in the given text and compares their frequency with the reference corpus. The result is the identification of keywords, i.e. units occurring significantly more often in the analyzed text than in the reference corpus representing a neutral language use.

The Treq is an easy-to-use application to look up translation equivalents in bidirectional Czech-foreign language dictionaries automatically extracted from parallel texts in the InterCorp corpus.

The CNC Corpus Calculator was created to provide quick support to corpus users when carrying out basic statistical tasks most commonly encountered in research. The app is divided into 7 modules reflecting specific research problems (comparing frequencies of words, establishing the level of reliability of a random sample analysis, calculating lexical richness etc.).

The Lists app allows the user to browse the frequency lists generated from representative corpora of written and spoken Czech. For each written Czech corpus, the users can access not only the overall results, but also frequency information for the three sub-corpora (fiction, non-fiction, and journalistic texts). Frequency lists only contain units (word forms or lemmas) which consist of alphabetic symbols and hyphens, and which have a frequency higher than zero in each of the written corpora (SYN2000, SYN2005, SYN2010, and SYN2015).

InterText is an editor for aligned parallel texts. It has been developed for the InterCorp project to edit and manage alignments of multiple parallel language versions of texts at the level of sentences, but it is designed with flexibility in mind and supports custom XML documents and Unicode character set.

Sketch Engine (SkE) is a commercial web-based corpus query interface being developed by Lexical Computing Ltd. - www.sketchengine.co.uk. Because of licensing, the local installation of SkE in the CNC can be accessed only by a limited number of staff and students of the Charles University.
