The CNC Bibliography: why get involved?

The Czech National Corpus research infrastructure aims at continuos mapping of (mostly) Czech language by compiling, annotating and making publicly available a large variety of language corpora. An integral part of this effort is the development of specialised tools and web applications for working with them, supplemented by many-faceted user support activities. These include the CNC Helpdesk (in Czech) and CLARIN K-centre helpdesk (in English) that users can consult with their queries, suggestions and bug reports, as well as the Bibliography of CNC-based research outputs named Biblio.

Thanks to Biblio, registered users can contribute bibliographic information about their papers, books and theses which they have created based on the CNC resources, i.e. using the CNC corpora or tools. Each Biblio item can optionally include a URL/DOI and/or an attached text of the publication which will be freely accessible to all visitors.

Why should I submit my publications to Biblio?
There are at least three good reasons for doing so:

  1. Creating the corpus research bibliography: As Biblio is regularly visited by researchers, students and general public, it serves as an easily-searchable virtual hub for looking up corpus research papers.
  2. Promotion: Sharing your work will help promoting itacross the community.
  3. Helping our project: The CNC infrastructure needs to regularly prove its use and high impact it has on the research community to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as the grant provider. One of the most important impact indicators is the evidence of CNC-based outputs. This means that your contributions to Biblio help the CNC infrastructure secure funding for its services.

For the reasons given above, Biblio is maintained also by the CNC team who regularly add missing items to keep it up to date. However, the detection of all CNC-based research outputs is virtually impossible, so we may easily miss yours. To keep the Biblio as complete as possible and also to help minimise our effort, we would like to appeal to you to contribute all your CNC-based research outputs to Biblio.

Biblio currently lists 4232 items. Thank you!
